Could Summer Activities Cause Neck or Back Pain?

Don’t Let Summer Fun Become a Pain in Your Back!

We’ve been waiting for it for 10 months, and it’s finally here… SUMMER in Fort Wayne! It’s time to go outside after a long, cold Winter and start enjoying the outdoors. I’m sure you already have a ton of Summer activities planned – swimming, a trip to the amusement park, golfing, gardening, water skiing, bike rides…there’s just so much to do!

Before you go running outside, remember…Summer activities, especially after being inactive throughout the Winter, could cause injuries that could ruin your Summer and cut the season short. Be sure to use common sense and take steps to avoid neck or back pain while participating in Summer Sports.

  • Don’t try to do too much too fast, take time to make sure your muscles are properly warmed up.
  • Gardening and Lawn work are two of the biggest culprits of back pain conditions. Practice good posture to avoid straining your back.
  • Pace yourself, and if you start to feel the slightest discomfort, take a break.
  • And, be sure to wear sunscreen when you’re outside for extended periods of time. While sunburn doesn’t cause back pain, it could leave you in pain for a few days and damage your skin.

If you over do it and you experience any neck or back pain or discomfort, visit Fort Wayne chiropractor, Busch Chiropractic for an examination. Using the most modern equipment available, we can pin point the cause of your neck or back pain and recommend a customized treatment plan.

Have a great Summer!
